Cost Accountant
Location: Hagerstown, MD
Salary: $65,000
SUMMARY
Responsibilities include performing balance sheet and expense account analysis, analyzing financial statements, and various accounting related tasks. Other duties will include financial analysis, preparation of special reports, providing recommendations on cost savings measures and controls, and working with other departments to translate financial data.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Perform analyses of accruals and reserves.
Prepare reconciliations for assigned accounts.
Perform month-end close activities.
Prepare actual versus budget analyses.
Compile cost data for preparation of annual budgets including estimates of standard cost increases for the following year. Update frozen standard costs annually.
Analyze cost of goods sold variance accounts each month and prepare reports.
Review monthly cycle count reports for large vacancies.
Prepare monthly inventory turnover reports.
Prepare various financial analysis and special projects.
Develop and recommend more efficient accounting methods⁄controls.
Directly interface with internal departments.
Assist with reporting, budget, and internal and external auditor visits.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree in Accounting
6-plus years of general accounting experience
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel
Oracle experience
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations
CPA or CMA
