Senior Tax Accountant – Allentown
This position has responsibility to ensure that taxes are properly accounted for and reported in the Company’s SEC filings and that the appropriate SOX internal controls and supporting documentation are in place and exercised globally by the Company with respect to the reporting of income taxes. This position will need to work closely with the members of the Tax department, Technical Accounting department and regional tax accountants to determine if taxes are reported accurately and that SOX compliance controls have been satisfied. This position reports directly to the Income Tax Controller.
Principal Accountabilities:
Manage the tax accounting issues for all domestic and foreign locations to ensure compliance with US GAAP Accounting Standard Codification 740, Income Taxes, related to:
PROVISION FOR INCOME TAXES
Review and coordinate the booking of the global effective tax rate during the fiscal year
Review the month-by-month tax accounting provision for all domestic and foreign operating reporting locations and investigate any material differences
Work directly with Tax department members, Technical Accounting department and operating controllers to ensure completeness and accuracy of the tax provisions at each domestic and foreign location in accordance with US GAAP ASC 740
Review accuracy and completeness of effective tax rate bookings for each domestic and foreign reporting location during the fiscal year
Monitor and review accounting for return to provision true-up and “special” tax provision issues (i.e. purchase price accounting, equity accounting, CTA, valuation allowances, etc.) for each domestic and foreign reporting location.
Review income tax account analysis and balance sheet roll forwards.
DEFERRED TAXES
Manage the accounting for deferred taxes for all domestic and foreign operating locations
Review and determine the accuracy and completeness of deferred taxes for foreign locations in accordance with US GAAP ASC 740
Review recoverability of deferred tax assets
Review and monitor balance sheet classification changes each quarter to determine impact on current and deferred tax classifications
Review income tax account analysis and balance sheet roll forwards
Review and monitor the US deferred taxes on undistributed earnings and other outside basis differences.
UNCERTAIN TAX POSITIONS
Assist in managing the accounting for uncertain tax positions for all domestic and foreign operating locations
Ensure that the recognition, de-recognition and measurement of uncertain tax positions is in accordance with US GAAP ASC 740
Maintain documentation of uncertain tax positions.
SEC FILINGS
Review accuracy and completeness of tax provision and tax balance sheet classifications on all SEC filings for the Company
Assist in determining the accuracy and completeness of all tax footnote disclosures for 10Q⁄K and Annual Report.
SARBANES OXLEY COMPLIANCE
Ensure that key controls are being exercised by the Tax Accounting and other foreign locations where income taxes are recorded
Determine that up-to-date documentation of SOX processes are being completed by Tax Accounting and other foreign locations
Assess impact of any control failures.
Qualifications
Senior manager in the tax department of a Big 4 Accounting firm or comparable industry experience
7-10 years experience in ASC 740
Experience with income tax provision software and⁄or implementation a plus
Strong US-multinational income tax accounting experience, preferred
Strong knowledge in the preparation of Financial Statements
Strong experience with indefinite reversal exception rules
Strong income tax compliance base, non-US experience a plus
Strong project management skills
Experience with SAP software a plus
Licensed CPA
MS in Taxation, preferred
